There’s no doubt I’ve let my love for fitness and moving my body shine through a little on my beauty gram. It’s another passion of mine and something I couldn’t live without.
I just wanted to share a few tips & tricks I use daily to keep my body moving and my diet healthy!
1. Challenge yourself to move daily
Whether it’s a walk before breakfast or a walk after work, get your body moving and commit to that exercise daily. I know going to the gym isn’t for everyone but find something you enjoy and keep at it! Persistence is key to starting a fitness routine.
If you can walk somewhere with a fab view, this should make going for a walk oh so much easier.
2. Mix it UP! Variety is a key ingredient to any fitness regime
I have found myself craving variety with my exercise routine. For about two years, I worked out in the gym after work/on weekends by myself or with my partner. Whilst I enjoyed this at the time, I am finding I no longer get a kick out of those monotonous gym workouts where I mostly did weight training.
2017 is my year to start a variety of activities I thought about doing, but never DID in 2016. I love playing tennis, so grabbed a good friend and started playing tennis at a free tennis court down the road from my house. I also got some boxing gloves for Christmas….I haven’t used them yet, but incorporating some boxing into my routine is something i am excited to do. Whilst I will keep going to the gym, mixing it up is a way to keep fitness exciting and fun!
3. Snacks….and the importance of!
If like me you sit down all day at a desk job, you will most likely find yourself feeling hungry or craving food at least 60% of the time. To avoid heading down to the newsagent for a sugary snack, I try to always have healthy snack options at my desk. I’ve got a few snack suggestions for your guys: a selection of fresh fruit (mixed in with Greek yoghurt), mixed unsalted nuts, cottage cheese and carrots/capsicum/celery, delicious clean pikelets (recipe here) – add some honey ontop for that bit of sweetness, banana muffins (I use a recipe you can find here – i swap out brown sugar for coconut sugar).
4. Get yourself some good workout gear
I’m a firm believer in the saying ‘all the gear and no idea’ as I think looking and feeling the part is half the battle with everything in life. Getting yourself a vibrant workout outfit teamed with a functional pair of shoes is vital! I always feel better about myself when I’m working out in comfortable, cute workout clothes.
Feeling good about yourself is a good start in my books and there is a large variety of clothing brands that have fantastic activewear ranges for you to pick from. Plus, you’ll be pleasantly surprised at the renewed motivation a new workout outfit can bring.
Some of my favourite and most inspirational movers and shakers in the fitness industry are @ashybines, @sophie_guidolin and @sarahs_day. Check them out and get your daily dose of fitspo to help you along your fitness journey.
