When I head out for a night on the town I generally like to go with a bronzed/golden smokey eye that is quick and easy! I feel like I’ve nailed this look after many, many attempts (I like to think so anyways). To create the eye makeup look I was rocking on a recent night out, I used three products. If you want to know which ones….keep on reading.
Firstly, I prep my lids with concealer. I know there are a range of products concocted for this exact thing, but I just like to use concealer. I find it creates a good base to start from (I use the IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye – I love the thick and creamy consistency).
Now to applying the three products…
1. Josie Maran Coconut Watercolour Eyeshadows
I absolutely adore this product and really don’t think it’s received enough hype. Josie Maran’s range of liquid shadows are beautiful and you can no doubt just apply this one product all over your lids and BAM you’re done! I also love the moisturising and hydrating properties the key ingredients, Coconut Water and Argan Oil provide.
The shades are very pigment-rich and if you love that metallic shiny look, you will love this range of liquid eyeshadows. The creamy/wet texture creates such a beautiful sheen that is so effortless. For my look, I applied the shade ‘Rio de Rose Gold‘ all over my lids generously with my fingertips, ensuring to pat down, not rub into the lids. This product is #organic and #natrual which is so important when it comes to putting products on your precious skin.
2. bareMinerals Eyeshadow Quad
Once I have applied the Josie Maran Watercolour Eyeshadow all over, I take a flat eyeshadow brush and spray it generously with MAC Fix+ and then pick up the shade ‘Whirlwind’ from my 4.0 The Instant Attraction bareMinerals palette. Making the brush damp before picking up the shade ensures a much more vibrant gold and just a real POP of colour. I try to pick up a lot of the shadow and apply with a patting motion all over the lid. Again I think patting the eyeshadow as opposed to rubbing provides a much deeper metallic shine.
3. Too Faced Chocolate Bon Bons Palette
If you just want to spend your money on one beautiful palette full of versatile shades to create any look, I couldn’t recommend this palette enough. The quality of these shadows are beautiful. It’s a little on the pricey side, but worth every cent in my opinion. I don’t apply eye shadows very often, but always reach for this one when I do.
To finish off, I picked up the shade ‘Bordeaux‘ on my Mecca Cosmetica ‘Eye Sculpting’ brush and applied it directly into the crease of my eye lid. I then blended back and forth for a while and applied a little more for a darker effect and continued blending until I was happy. I only applied the darker shade into half of my eyelid as didn’t want it to be too smokey and wanted to the golden shade to stand out as much as possible. I also lightly applied this shade to my bottom lid.
Once I was happy with the crease shade I completed step 2 again, just to ensure that golden shade was as vibrant as possible. I don’t apply eyeliner for this look as I think the eyeshadows really speak for themselves and stand out without it. I also didn’t apply mascara as I have eyelash extensions, but if I didn’t, I would finish this look off with a pair of fake lashes, using my absolute faves, the Ardell Wispies, topping the look off with the Too Faced Better than Sex mascara.
