Foundation – Tried and Tested

I’ve tried and tested many a foundation over the years and today my post is about just a few of the ones I am loving/trying at the moment. I really like full coverage foundations and generally buy foundations that will suit my skin tone when I am fake tanned.

I don’t know about everyone else, but the world of foundations can be quite a confusing one. With characteristics like luminous, dewy, matte, moisturising, anti-ageing, full/lightweight coverage and not to mention a million shades to choose from…how does a girl know what to buy? I always find it an arduous task delving into the unknown world of a new foundation. But obviously I’m a beauty blogger and am currently on a mission to give them all a go. Which can be sooo hard when you get a favourite foundation that you feel totally flawless wearing!!

NARS Sheer Glow Foundation

This has to be my most repurchased and all time favourite foundation. It always applies so seamlessly and flawlessly (that’s a lot of s’s). The only big downside for me is that I don’t have a perfect match, I always generally mix it with a deeper foundation (usually the Estée Lauder Double Wear) and apply with a damp beauty blender. The formula is quite dewy, light-weight and provides a very luminous finish. As it wears through the day, it can leave me a little oily in my t-zone but this can be helped with blotting paper/setting powders.

I can achieve a light coverage look with this but can only really build it for a very full coverage night time look. As far as foundations go I do truly believe in this one, I always feel my make-up application is super radiant, luminous, whilst my skin appears brighter and much more even. Lovee!

Tarte Amazonian Clay 12 hour Full Coverage Foundation

Now your probably thinking….that’s a mouthful, and you would be right! I won’t lie, I succumbed to extreme FOMO (fear of missing out) and purchased this foundation. I have seen it all over youtube and beauty blogs, so naturally I needed to try it. I’ve used it a handful of times and so far I’m not loving it. This foundation is the definition of matte as well as having a very thick/creamy consistency. I don’t mind the thick consistency, I know this will scare some people right away given people generally associate this with heavy coverage.

Given I tend to have slightly drier skin in the cooler months, I think this foundation will really cling to those dry parts. I do still need to play around with it and somehow make it less mattifying. Will keep you posted. Please let me know any tips you have down below, as I know a lot of people do love this foundation.

Estée Lauder Double Wear Foundation

This foundation is a true cult classic and is marketed as a ‘Stay in Place’ all day kinda deal and it 100% delivers on that promise. This guy won’t budge, it really does provide a fantastic finish that will last all day (this is what I find when applying at 6am and getting home around around 6pm). I don’t get oily wearing it, yet find the formula very moisturising. Estée Lauder’s website says the coverage is medium, but I would say it is very buildable. Highly recommend this foundation to all…seek it out and enjoy beauties.

Urban Decay One and Done Foundation

This guy is a great, I’m popping out and want to even that skin tone and appear well…put together real quick foundation. The formula provides quite a sheer coverage but again, is also quite buildable. I don’t recommend this for a full day of work or play but it’s great for popping to the shops or in any instance you just want to throw on a little coverage. The formula provides a natural look and that’s why I’m a fan. It’s nice to have a more natural and lighter coverage foundation/tinted moisturiser in your makeup artillery and this one ticks all the boxes foe me.

Thanks for reading! Any queries, recommendations or tips, paleasee lemme know in the comments.

Great read!! Sheer glow is my all time favourite, I won’t ever not buy it, it’s my trusty companion. UD is also a great one and I agree, not an all dayer but great for quick outing or easy daytime it fades quickly .. I would like to know if double wear is matte or semi matte, I’m dry skinned and anything heavy and matte is disastrous on my face.

Thank you for being such a loyal reader!!! What would I do without your support (probably giveup) haha but seriously your awesome!!! No I don’t find the double wear matte at all, it’s very moisturising, similar to that of the sheer glow, except probably a slightly heavier consistency. I’m sooo sad about the Tarte foundation, everyone loves it, why can’t I love it haha. It seriously just clings to my face and it’s so powdery, I can’t deal. I won’t give up though, everytime I apply with a different primer, I’m still to try to mix with some rose hip oil/phyto oil, fingers crossed that helps.
