This year it has been my mission to try and test as many foundations as I can. I really enjoy trying new foundations and that moment when you find your perfect fit is super satisfying.
I recently did a blog review of the Too Faced Born this Way Foundation (you can read it here) and I raved about the long-lasting dewy goodness this brought to my complexion….then I finished the bottle and the testing continued. Next on the list was the Clinique Beyond Perfecting Foundation+Concealer (you can purchase here). A 2-in-1 product had my attention as did the numerous fab reviews I was seeing around the blogasphere.
I know your thinking, just get to the review. Okay, okay…here I go!
About the Foundation+Concealer (From Clinique)
A foundation-and-concealer in one for a natural, beyond perfected look that lasts all day. Lightweight, moisturizing makeup covers thoroughly without clogging pores. Skin breathes comfortably, colour stays true, even through sweat and humidity.
Basically, I have a new found favourite when it comes to foundation and agree with everything Clinique has said above (yes, I really do). As marketed, this foundation is super moisturising and feels beautiful and light on the skin. The formula is dewy, but can be mattified well with powders.
The coverage will suit everyone as it can be applied lightly but also builds really well for a heavier coverage. Even with a lighter application, it evens skintone with perfection and works well to cover undereye circles and any areas of imperfection/redness.
I do love the applicator (pic below), it’s a huge draw card for me as the sponge helps with applying as concealer, especially under eyes. I do however prefer my concealer under my eyes to be a few shades lighter so do apply a little of a lighter shade over this.
What I find really interesting is how the foundation shade does appears deeper when first applied, which Clinique describes is due to the rich pigment levels within the formula. However, the foundation formula does melt seamlessly and naturally into the skin after at least 5 – 10 minutes and after this time the shade ‘natural’ is a perfect match for my tanned skin.
The formula blends flawlessly and creates the perfect base that I find long-lasting through an 8 hour day at work (and let’s face it, this is the ultimate test in a very warm climate that I live in). I do find when applied all over your face and then blended, it does require considerable blending. This is achieved best with a damp beauty blender and perhaps an application to smaller parts of the face, blending as you go.
I have normal to dry skin but this is marketed towards combination skin so definitely worth a go if that is you.
I highly rate this guy, natural finish that builds seamlessly and leaves a beautifully slight luminosity. Whether you are looking for that lighter finish or prefer a heavy coverage, I think this will suit both needs. There are also plenty of shades to choose from and I believe they just added a few more.
Let me know if you have tried this in the comments beauties and what your thoughts were.
Lots of love.
