Hi guys!! Over the last month I have been on a new skincare journey with Aspect Skincare and I can’t wait share it with you. Aspect Skincare gifted me with five of their products which I will provide every juicy detail on.
I have a very large fear of trying different skincare products after I ventured somewhere new a year ago and it ended in large amounts of breakouts and the worst skin I have ever had in my twenty-six years of life (there were tears that my boyfriend had to deal with and multiple cries for help to my sister in law who is a skin specialist).
After some great advice from professionals, I settled back into a good and reliable skincare brand and my skin woes cleared up. Little tip I have received from skincare professionals…if you are struggling with your skin/breakouts, don’t try new products constantly. Try investing in a good cosmeceuticals skincare brand, and stay away from fussy face and sheet masks, despite how fun they are.
Enter…Aspect Skincare. I used Aspect a few years ago and loved the brand. I can’t really remember why I stopped using it. This time around, it’s a little bit different, I am delving into the world of serums and boy is it confusing!! Am I right?!?
I am not a skincare expert, so to give you guys some great info, I have teamed up with a fabulous beauty therapist (my best friend Alex!!) so I can share some informative thoughts on the beautiful cosmeceuticals skincare brand that is Aspect. This will be a long one friends, so settle on in.
Aspect is an Australian skincare brand that uses high-powered and active ingredients as well as being cruelty free! The Aspect range is so specialised and effective, you will only find them on their online stockists or in salons. Before a purchase, expert advice is recommended given the intense active ingredients set to your make your skin GLOW!!
Aspect Products: My Impressions
Purastat 5 Cleanser
After removing my makeup with a cotton pad and micellar water, I cleanse with three pumps of Aspect’s Purastat 5 cleanser. The formula is gel like and foams nicely when rubbed between your hands. I work the product into my skin using circular motions. When you first begin using this product your skin will feel tingly when removed, this is because it contains Lactic Acid which has a gentle exfoliating affect to remove dead skin cells. My skin always feel fresh, smooth and clean after the deep cleanse that this provides.
This beautiful cleanser does not include harsh chemical agents that are found in a range of other cleansers. Moisturiser Aspect Phytostat 9
This moisturiser is my most loved of the range and Aspect scores brownie points for their ingenious packaging. The air-restrictive, pump-top ensures no contamination and keeps the antioxidants and other air/light-sensitive ingredients stable. This company knows how to package their formulas for maximum effectiveness! The pump top also ensures you get every ounce of product that is in that bottle, I have taken the top off before to see a BARE container and I mean bare, there wasn’t a scrap of product left.
The formula is silky smooth, light-weight and has a lovely subtle scent. My skin always feels perfectly moisturised, hydrated and soft after using morning and night. This product is marketed as a great all-rounder and whilst it provides high levels of hydration for dry skin, it can also be used on oily skin. The active ingredients are set to brighten the skin, help even out skin tone and reduce fine lines and winkles (yes please!).
The formula of the eyelift is creamy, smooth and has a delightful scent. I have seen an improvement in the darkness I get under my eyes after using this consistently (twice a day) for over a month now. My eye lids can also tend to get a little dry and since applying the eyelift I haven’t had any issues with dry skin.
Extreme C 20 and Extreme B 17 Serum
Serums are all the rage these days and at my age, I need something to brighten up my somewhat dull and pigmented skin (WEAR SUNCREAM LADIES!!!!)
The best part about a Vitamin C product are the benefits of reversing the damage of UV exposure and environmental stress. I have read results should be visible after only a few days of using this and I have to agree, my skin is no doubt looking clearer and brighter after using consistently over the last month (usually twice a day).
The Extreme B17 is a Niacinamide, (Vitamin B3) antioxidant serum boasts calming, brightening and rehydration benefits. It will also reduce excessive oil production. Again, in conjunction with the Vitamin C, i have seen a noticeable brightness and hydration to my skin.
Chats with Alex on Cosmeceuticals Skincare
First up, what is Aspect Skincare?
Aspect is a Cosmeceutical product range which uses the purest form of active ingredients with the knowledge of skin science to help protect and nourish the skin from the inside out.
So Alex, for girls like myself who aren’t all knowledged up in this area, why is a good quality skincare line is important?
Everyone tends to forget that the skin is the largest organ in the body and it needs just as much T.L.C as the inside of the body. Good skincare to me, is as essential as petrol is to a car, your not investing for right now, your investing for the future health of your skin.
What we can do in a salon with amazing facials and skin procedures is just a small percentage of achieving healthy skin. To continue those fabulous results at home and to help your tiny skin cells to work at their optimal level, you need to invest in the amazing science that cosmeceuticals have. That is after all, what is going to create change within the skin.
What does Cosmeceutical mean?
Cosmeceutical means to have skincare with medical science behind their products and ingredients which help to create change down at a cellular level.
What is the difference between a cosmeceutical brand and lower end brands (cosmetic brands)?
The difference is quite simple once you understand how they both work. Cosmeceuticals are using scientifically formulated pure active ingredients (#LIFE) to get down into the cellular level of the skin, to help those newbie skin cells to create change and work efficiently.
Where as Cosmetics aren’t even close to reaching their goals as what they should. Sure you can “feel” the difference once applied topically to the skin, but they aren’t creating any change. The product is sitting on the top epidermal layer of the skin. (The skin is made up of Three Levels, the top level is the Epidermis which we can touch and feel and that is made up of 5 levels of skin cells and your Stratum Corneum is the top layer of your epidermis (I could really go on for ages. SKIN IS LIFE haha).
Basically, you get what you pay for! Let’s use the Purastat Cleanser as an example. It is such a refreshing product and the Organic Hydrofoam it contains as its foaming agent will leave your skin supple and not tight at all. On the flip side, cosmetics that are cheaper generally use ingredients such as Sodium Lauryl Sulfate which is such a harsh foaming agent on the skin and is also found in a wide range of products as well, not just skincare…insert concerned frowning face.
Serums seem to be all the rage these days and there are soo many on the market, why should we use them?
I honestly think serums have been around for such a long time (as have I in the industry haha :|) but people now are getting EDUCATED WOOHOO #makesmyinnerskintherapisthappy!
I like to explain serums as “Boosters” to the skin. They are boosting results with concerns you have, boosting your skins health and BOOSTING the efficiency of how your products are absorbed. There are so many serums out there and it can be quite confusing, not to mention the hefty price tag to match can be daunting for most.
The three main serums that I deal with are:
Vitamin B; which is amazing for structural integrity of the skin, boosts hydration and can also help fight the acne bacteria that sits in the skin.
Vitamin C; which creates a brightening effect within the skin and helps with strengthen the skin as well; and
Vitamin A; helps to rebuild collagen and elastin which breaks down as we age and can be exfoliating on the skin, but with this one ALWAYS check with your skin therapist before you purchase as there are certain rules you need to follow to safely use it 🙂
Serums are also full of antioxidants and are free radical fighters so they’re such an integral part of the skincare family. As you can see there are so many different serums and actually Aspect has 4 more serums which are designed to target certain types of skin conditions. Your therapist will always choose serums that will specifically target your personal skin issues.
“Good Skincare, is as essential as petrol is to a car, your not investing for right now, your investing for the future health of your skin”
