Will you be my Bridesmaid?
For anyone not playing along at home, I got engaged when I tripped to Paris in August 2017 and just recently booked in my wedding venue. So with the wedding planning in full swing, I am now a little lost in a world of place cards and floral arbours.
This week I kicked off the wedding plans by asking one of my longest and dearest friends to stand beside me at the alter come my Wedding Day in May 2020.
It’s always been in my nature to do things a little differently and having only one bridesmaid, I wanted to go all out for my gal. I have chosen just one gal to be by my side in an attempt to keep the very small wedding I once wanted (it’s now 60 people min) as simple as damn possible. I’m sure we all know things can really blow out and nek minute you have a 20 people wedding party.
Anyway, the point is, I decided a long time ago I would ask my good friend Natalie. She’s the best and we have travelled the world together, grown up together and just been through it all together really.
To ask Nat, I put together a beautiful and thoughtfully curated box full of personalised and sentimental goodies. Here is little break down of what I included and what I think is just the most special way to ask your bride tribe to be part of your special day. If you are stuck for ideas, here is something to help you on your way.
When I thought how I should ask Nat, I knew I had to include some cookies from my favourite cake/sweet extraordinaire, Melissa from Oh How Sweet. Melissa couldn’t be more amazing at listening to exactly what you want and delivering on every detail and more. I got three sets of these cookies. One for my flower girl, bridesmaid and MC.
They add such a customised touch to the box and who doesn’t like some food included?!?
A mini champagne bottle adds a little bit of luxe to the box and what better way to celebrate this special time with a bottle of bubbles. If you have a few gals to make boxes for, there are plenty of cheaper options that come in this miniature size.
A few beautiful words to your best buds never goes astray. I managed to track down this card from Kikki K. It was perfect and I loved the rose gold foiling. Etsy also have a wonderful range of cards that are similar and most likely cheaper if you are purchasing a few.
I wanted to include something special Nat can wear on my wedding day or just enjoy whenever she wants, so I purchased my favourite pair of earrings in my ultimate shape…a moon from Molten Store. I have the same pair in gold. They add such a personal touch and this is something easy you can purchase for your gals at any price point. Having a consistent piece of jewellery on your day is such a cute idea.

Makeup was an easy one for me. I love it and I know Nat does too. if your gals aren’t into makeup, buy them all something that matches their individual style and personality. It’s another customised item that shows how much effort and thought you have put into making this a time to remember.
There are so many custom made boxes on Etsy and on the market. They are absolutely gorgeous and can include your bridesmaids names in rose gold or whatever your choice may be. These options can be on the expensive side.
I opted for a rustic brown box full of tissue paper which made the presentation absolute perfection. I just picked up these pieces from my local craft store.
How did you ask your bride tribe to be by your side? I would love to know.
